One of our first commissions for a University was our trip to Derbyshire on 1 September with 34 Chinese railway engineers who were guests of the Nottingham Business School. We had chosen the World Heritage Site of the Derwent Valley Mills for the trip to Cromford Mill, thought to be one of the first factories in the world. It was fascinating to share the experience with a group going through their own Industrial Revolution .
Then on to Chatsworth House, where even the audio guides are in Mandarin. A huge “hit” but very interesting that several of our feedback forms suggested more time out in the wonderful gardens in the fresh air. What price “box ticking”? This group really appreciated what a wonderful place is Chatsworth and wanted more of it!
